LTE: Katonah Record-Review: Olga Berlin: Impressed by Rep. Lawler who puts pragmatism over party politics

I am writing to you to express how impressed I am with Congressman Mike Lawler’s bipartisan work in Congress. At a time when political polarization often drives legislation and policy, I’m happy to see Congressman Lawler values his constituents and cooperation over party politics.
In June, Congressman Lawler introduced the SHIP Act with Congressman Jared Moskowitz of Florida, aimed at holding Iran accountable for subverting international sanctions. By working across party lines, both members have shown that they are willing to put pragmatism over partisanship. Even though Congressman Lawler’s term began just six months ago, he has co-sponsored and introduced dozens of pieces of bipartisan legislation. In fact, his bill that would establish a Special Envoy for the Abrahams Accords passed the House with overwhelming support from both parties, with over 200 Republicans and almost 200 Democrats voting for the bill. And locally, Congressman Lawler has also shown that he values people over politics. He’s worked together with Republicans and Democrats to get things done, whether it’s fighting for funding for local law enforcement with Sen. Chuck Schumer, calling for FEMA aid for the Hudson Valley with Congressman Pat Ryan and Assemblyman Matt Slater, or standing up to Gov. Hochul’s absurd housing plan with Democrat and Republican supervisors from across the region. I am looking forward to seeing more bipartisan work from Representative Lawler in Congress. As a constituent, I am very thankful to be represented in Congress by someone who puts Hudson Valley values first. Olga Berlin,
